Project Description:

Myself and two other brother knights of this council participated with Fr. Peter once again this year with the Blessing of the animals which was held at Sacred Heart Church at 9 AM on Saturday October 6th 2018. On a beautiful Fall morning, this year’s Annual Blessing of the Animals brought over 46 people and many animals to Sacred Heart Church parking lot. A scripture passage was read prior to saying a blessing over the animals. Fr. Peter then proceeded to walk around sprinkling each animal with holy water. In celebration of God’s glorious creation, and in honor of St Francis of Assisi. One of the most beloved saints, Francis of Assisi lived the Gospel by identifying himself with the poor, embracing outcasts and enemies, and celebrating the goodness of Gods present in all creation. His witness revitalized a Church that had “fallen into ruin,” and his influence today goes beyond the order he founded and even beyond the Catholic Church. When the last two popes held inter religious gatherings to pray for peace, they met not in Rome, but in Assisi.
