Prayers for a Deceased Brother Knight

Project Description:

A Charter member of our council passed away at the age of 87, he was still very active as a parishioner, and the patriarch of his family. He was the inspiration for his son to join the Knights as well. On the evening of his wake, 20 Knights gathered to pray and bid farewell to this longtime member. It was a moving experience for all involved, and at the end of the prayers, the son took the time to thank each Knight present personally. This gentleman had served on degree teams, and traveled with his son at the state level for many years, so the members present ranged from PSD’s, FM’s, DD’s, and many others whose lives he had touched. The next day, his funeral was very-well attended by a full church; there were 5 priests in attendance as well, con-celebrating his funeral Mass. The State Officers were all in attendance, as well as Knights from the entire state. This drove home how truly dedicated and special our Brotherhood is. A truly well-deserved send off for an unassuming and dedicated Knight who lived the ideals of Fr. McGiveny.
