Pregnancy needs Support – Bowl-A-Thon
Pregnancy needs Support - Bowl-A-Thon
Council: 114 - BANGOR
Project Description:
Pine Cone Council 114 is determined to provide steadfast support of women in Crises during pregnancy. The Knights of Bangor and Saint Paul the Apostle Parish for the 2nd year in a row have put on a Bowl-A-Thon in Support of the Sheperd’s Godparent Home, a women’s pregnancy home for women in crises.
Our bow a thon was held on February 9th at the family fun center in Bangor. We had 54 bowlers, volunteer support and many person’s purchasing raffles, purchasing baked goods, taking a chance on the 50/50 drawing. A huge banner (was donated by Snowman’s Printing) was made promoting the event and was hung up a the family fun center bowling lanes, the banner helped with getting bowlers signed and food donated. To help with food donations, the family fun center provided a $100.00 gift certificate to be used in their pro shop or in bowling money to person’s donating two or more nonperishable food items, that were given to the Sheperd’s godparent home. Approximately 200 pounds of food were collected before and during the event, what an awesome gift to the pregnancy home.
This event was thought of and majorly supported by Brother John Newcomb, he sold approximately $1,700.00 in raffle sales himself, and encouraged so many of the 54 participants to sign-up. In addition he appeared on WABI5 TV, and permitted the event in support of the Sheperd’s Godparent Home.
The bake sale, raffles, 50/50, support of the bowling center, all helped with the huge success of the Bowl-A-Thon, raising $2,500.00 given to the home.
This event was an awesome community awareness campaign for the Sheperd’s Godparent Pregnancy Home, as well as a fundraiser.
The overall result was a huge store of food items , financial support, people signing up to assist the home in future efforts, and a much larger awareness of the beautiful service Sheperd’s Godparent Home brings to life and the community.
