Rite Of Candidacy For Seminarian Joseph Moreshead. 15791
Rite Of Candidacy For Seminarian Joseph Moreshead. 15791
Council: 15791 - FALMOUTH
Project Description:
Five council brothers and four wives participated in the Rite of Candidacy Celebrated by Bishop Deeley for Seminarian Joseph Moreshead at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Portland on Friday December 21, 2018. Our Council Brother / Seminarian Joseph Moreshead, openly declared his intention to complete his preparation for the priesthood during the Rite of Candidacy, on Friday, December 21, 2018. “For me, receiving the rite of candidacy is an exceptional joy,” Moreshead said. During the rite, celebrated in the chapel of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Portland, Seminarian Joseph Moreshead stood before the bishop and publicly resolved to prepare himself in mind and spirit to give faithful service to Christ and his Church. Speaking on behalf of the Church, the bishop then accepted Moreshead’s intention “with great joy.” Although he said he has long known that God was calling him to the priesthood, he described his journey as “quite a roller-coaster ride,” as he discerned which path to follow. Now, after three years of formation for the Diocese of Portland, he said he feels at home. Other fellow seminarians, family members, brother knights, and friends were among those who attended the Rite of Candidacy. They joined with the bishop and 11 priests in asking God to pour down the grace of his blessing on Seminarian Joseph Moreshead, so that he will continue to draw closer to Christ, will always be able to listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit, and will become a minister of the Church who will strengthen the faith of his brothers and sisters by word and example. We brothers of Council 15791 continue to support Seminarian Joseph Moreshead and pray for him daily, that his dream of becoming a Priest will someday come true. GOD Bless you Brother Moreshead.
