Rosary Rally

Rosary Rally

09/05/2022

Council: 114 - BANGOR

Project Description:

The Knights of Pine Cone Council 114 assisted with the 2022 Rosary Rally for St. Paul the Apostle Parish.

We reached out to the rally organizer, Val Eisenberg, approximately 2 weeks before the day of the rally to see if there were any ways we could help. We expected a request for refreshment service on the day of the event, but Val requested much more practical help requests.

Her first request was for help putting up her 3′ by 9′ banner announcing the rally in the front yard of St. Mary’s church. This was more difficult than it initially seemed because the banner was printed on a vinyl paper that did not have any grommets for string or other mounting devices. Eventually, using clamps and pipes and stakes (some of which was lent by Brother Keith Forbes), I (Jacob Mages-Haskins) made a structure that displayed the banner outside the church.

But, the banner was only on display over night, unfortunately. The ink on Val’s banner was not waterproof, and it ran in the morning dew! So, I went back to St. Mary’s the following morning and took the banner back down.

We were much more successful helping with Val’s other requests, though!

At the beginning of the rally, I distributed programs and welcomed the attendees, which freed Val to see about the final organizational demands of the event.

During the rally, I and 2 other local Knights (Brothers Spike Brimmer and Rey Dubois) each took a turn leading the recitation of a decade of the rosary.

Afterwards, Val thanked me for the Knight’s support with ensuring that the rally was a success.

We hope to be able to help again next year and encourage greater attendance.
