Council: 114 - BANGOR

Project Description:

“Enthusiastic” New Chairman of this year’s Pandemic Covid-19 Golf Tournament was the difference maker in this H.O. Bouchard Memorial Golf Tournament Fundraiser held at Hermon Meadow’s Golf Course on August 15th, 2020. Brother Matt Madore and his lovely wife worked feverishly in Promoting the event, gaining hole sponsorships, team registrations and brother’s participation. At one point there were 21 teams signed up, on golf day 19 teams were filled and completed. What an amazing recruitment and participation by so many, all wanting to play a round of golf, and for a great cause – For the Seminarians! The knights put a lot of thought into Safe Distancing due to Covid-19, window partitions were put up between the registration and ticket sales table, and then at the BBQ grill area for the meal after the tournament.
This years hole sponsorships was out of this world, with $9,200.00 collected in all, this added to other sponsorships from Pepsi, UTZ’s, Kohl’s, and several brother Knights who purchased hot dogs, rolls, hamburgers, buns, potato salad, cookies and other items.
It was a beautiful day, and the grounds were near ideal conditions, made for a great round of golf. This was just what the doctor ordered on everyone’s behalf because it had been five months of Covid-19, what a relief to be out playing a sport that they loved.
This singular event blew everyone’s minds, we never thought it possible that the sponsors would be so very generous, that people would flock to play around a golf, the sign-ups just kept coming in, wowser, awesome, spectacular an incredible fundraiser benefiting the eight Seminarians going through Seminary.
The day was fantastic, all team participants had a great round of golf, making the selection of winners close and exciting. Awards were made for each of the games and monies won could be used to purchase merchandise from the Hermon Meadows golf store.
This event garnered over $10,000.00, of which $4,000.00 was used for Seminarian Scholarships. Eight in all: All eight in the amount of $500.00 and a $500.00 check for Fr. Griesbach to aid in recruiting future Priests. The remainder of funds went to other charities decided on by the council.
