Council: 2219 - WESTBROOK

Project Description:

April 8, 2019, Council 2219 agreed to pursue a Yard Sale in order to raise funds to send at least four young men from Boy Scout Troop 87, and who are from low income families to Camp Hines for a week this year, as well as raising additional funds to help supply the Westbrook Food Pantry. One of our Brother Knights was able to get Hannaford Super Market to donate a 53′ long trailer to store donations in, another Brother Knight was successful in acquiring the use of the American Legion Facility on Dunn St. Westbrook, ME, at no cost to the Knights and several other Brother Knights pursued advertising for donations as well as the event itself. On April 20, 2019, the trailer was manned by a group of Brother Knights to except donations and price all items prior to placing them in the trailer. Collections were excepted on Saturdays at the back of St Hyacinth Church, St Anthony Parish, Westbrook, ME. By the time the event was ready to take place, the trailer had been completely filled to capacity. On May 18, 2019, the date of the event, a large group of Knights, Boy Scouts and many family members of both Knights and Scouts arrived at the Legion facility at 6:30am and set up tables and unloaded the trailer. By 8:30am the area was completely set up and ready for the Yard Sale. The event started immediately after set up and lasted till 3pm on May 18, 2019. Everyone who was working the event was treated to grilled hot dogs by the Scouts. A total of $1360.00 was raised. The number of people attending the event to purchase items was not listed.
