Spaghetti & Lasagna dinner

Spaghetti & Lasagna dinner

03/27/2018

Council: 5515 - NORWAY

Project Description:

The Council needed funds to allow it to assist the parish as Father McGivney would have done. Parishioners were very much “home bound” between the snow and cold temperature during the winter. They needed a night out, a time to mingle with friends and have a good time. What better way to do that with a spaghetti supper in February. Tickets were sold beginning in January every weekend after Mass up to the night of the event to give the council an idea of now much supplies would be needed. Brothers sought out gifts to be awarded to the attendees at this dinner from around the local area. The Sisters at the Community of the Resurrection were approached and consulted by the council with respect to “thinking out off the box” with regards to the kinds of prizes to get. We were able to get donations from local restaurants, golf courses, supermarkets, and department stores to fill our prize package. We had brother Knights who had musical talent provide us the background music for the event. We had a brother knight we dubbed “the entertainer” host the event. The support from the parish was key to our success since we had around eighty people at this function. The price of admission allowed every participant to receive a free raffle ticket for the prizes we gave out. We held a 50/50 raffle at the event as well and had a cash prize of over $60.00. There was much talk and laughter throughout the event as the parishioners enjoyed the time out we us and each other. A good time was had by all.
