St. Paul the Apostle Parish Community Food Drive
St. Paul the Apostle Parish Community Food Drive
Council: 114 - BANGOR
Project Description:
It all started by one Brother Knight asking the question, “Is it the right time to do another Food Drive?” We asked Msgr. Dubois, and Sara Cox, the Parish Food Cupboard organizer if it was the right time to have another food drive; Everyone agreed that it was the perfect time to assist the local cupboards in restocking the shelves. The Knights of Columbus grabbed the opportunity to Help our Neighbors in need. It just seemed like the right thing to do, and the brothers were so eager to assist the Parish with the food drive. A couple brother Knights got the local news media to promote the drive, the parish office ran announcements in the church bulletins, and made up great Poster Boards, hung them in our six Churches. 22 Brother Knights and one spouse helped man the collection sites, the whole crew gave their all to this cause, their attitudes and warmheartedness shown through, big smiles, warm comments… Msgr. Dubois had St. Joseph’s Prayer Cards made up, and the Knights handed them out as a thank you for their participation and donations.
The local news crews visited each of the collection sites, it gave a boost to the donators, and really supported the community food cupboards.
In all the Knights collected over 5000 pounds of food items and $730.00 in cash, gift cards and checks.
This effort was an amazing team effort of the Parish Office, the Knights, the parishioners and our local news agencies.
This event resulted in an Outstanding outpouring of support from our community, such a great presence of Jesus Christ and his good works.
