The Knighthood Degree

The Knighthood Degree

02/14/2020

Council: 114 - BANGOR

Project Description:

Pine Cone Council was pleased to host the exemplification of the knighthood degree for 5 candidates on February on Sunday, February 2, 2020. This was the final time this state was to be presenting this ceremony in our part of the state, as the order transitions to the Exemplification of Charity, Unity and Fraternity in March of this year. Brother Spike Brimmer served as the conferring officer, with State Secretary John Deetjen, Jr, presenting the fraternal charge. District Deputy Jon Jozefowicz and District Warden Paul Rand presented the other major speaking parts, while state Membership Director Norm Bisson supervised the audiovisual elements of the degree. It was a great opportunity for all to conduct this ceremony, especially for Brother Brimmer who has been involved in third degree work for 20 years and Brother Deetjen who has been doing it even longer. The candidates had been with us since late morning, having taken their second degree before sharing a luncheon in the church hall. Despite some technical glitches, the exemplification was well-received and the lessons hit home. During the knighting, State Treasurer Jon Harvey knighted his father-in-law. This was a particularly moving moment. This was an event for all to remember.
