We can’t report on this campaign without first mentioning Brother Don Madore, who has been our main man with the Tootsies since we started these drives. Brother Don is limited in how he can participate in some council activities, but has found his place with the Tootsies. He logged half the hours spent on this project singlehanded. Council reps went out on a dozen occasions on Saturday mornings to solicit donations for the mentally challenged. Our guys showed up at different times at 2 different gas station/convenience stores, 2 different supermarkets and a bakery. In the end, we collected over $3600. We donated $900.13 each to Saco Meals Program, Creative Work Systems and Maine Special Olympics, presenting checks at our January council meeting.
