Tootsie Roll Campaign 2022
Tootsie Roll Campaign 2022
Council: 12941 - BIDDEFORD
Project Description:
Biddeford/Saco community, then after all weekend Masses throughout Good Shepherd Parish on one weekend in October. Around town we solicited TR donations on 8 occasions, 5 at local grocery stores, the others at busy local gas station/convenience stores. Typically we had two Brother Knights at a location taking 2 hour shifts for a period of 6 hours per outing. One of our Knights did extra work lining up the dates and places to go as well as finding helpers to meet the public. In church we coordinated our efforts with Council 2266 in Old Orchard Beach and 7078 in Lyman so that all 8 parish Masses would have coverage. Our council covered Saco and Biddeford. Wherever we were, the approach was the same–we collected donations after each Mass and handed out Tootsies as fast as we could. It was all over in 15 minutes! We expressed thanks to our pastor, Fr Timothy Nadeau, who had suggested in the first place that we hold a drive in church. The suggestion paid off as that one weekend accounted for almost 1/3 of our 2022 total. In the end we were able to disburse just over $5200 from our Tootsie Roll Campaign in equal shares to Special Olympics Maine at the Lobster Dip, Esther Residence in Saco, Creative Work Systems in Westbrook and Saco Meals.
