Transferring Parish Food Pantry to Community Food Pantry
Transferring Parish Food Pantry to Community Food Pantry
Council: 114 - BANGOR
Project Description:
St. Paul the Apostle Parish collects food items monthly in support of the Ecumenical Food Cupboard located at Hammond Street Congregational Church. The Knights of Columbus Pine Council 114 has five volunteers to help transport the food after it’s collected to the Congregational church.
Our method has been for the transporter to load the tubs in his/her vehicle between eight and eight-thirty (when Mass starts) and deliver it inside the HSCC back entrance on High Street; that entrance gets locked at ten when their service starts upstairs, I have been told. The food collection is on the third full week-end of each month — not always the third Sunday. Currently there are four families who are usually able to help in this way and want to continue to do so.
The Knights and family members have found this ministry very rewarding in that it helps others find peace and solitude during difficult times.
Thanks Brothers
