Project Description:

I was approached recently once again this year and asked if I could talk with a couple of our housing community Vets and see if they wanted to help in putting on a Summer Cookout on Friday June 15, 2018. In doing a survey of the Vets, their families, and the remaining families in our housing community I found that a number of them were going to be away on Fathers Day. So instead we came up with Friday June 15, 2018 as a good date to have our cookout. This morning the person who is in charge of our maintenance pick-up a couple of tents from a rental place and helped us set them up so all could sit in the shade and enjoy the cookout at Noon time. Today we cooked burgers, chicken, dogs. Salad, buns and etc were supplied by my wife and I, and two of the other Vets and their Families. We started cooking at noon, and by 3:00 people were beginning to leave. Unfortunately two of our residents, one of them who is a Viet-Nam Vet are home bound, so I put together meals so they could be brought to these home bound military brothers. Following the meal one of the ladies brought out some ice cream bars to take care of the sweet tooth. My two military brothers and I stayed around to help clean-up, and take the tents down. What a Blessed Event it was. United with each other as Senior’s is very important in a Community such as ours. There was no one who left hungry today thanks to our LORD. We look forward to doing this again in the Fall.
