Virtual Walk for Life 2021

Project Description:

Beginning in early September 2021, the council spread the word of this annual event via the Good Shepherd Parish church bulletin, our council newsletter and by word of mouth. The plan was for interested individuals to walk 3 miles in support of the Culture of Life at the time and place of their choosing some time in October and solicit financial donations to the same good cause. We made it clear that anyone unable to walk the distance was welcome to donate anyhow. Brother Knights, family and friends reached out to both individuals and businesses for support and donations. The response came in like the tide and we are profoundly grateful for the support.
By the end of calendar 2021, the Virtual Walk for Life had raised over $9100. In turn, the council donated $500 of these proceeds to the Open Arms Pregnancy Center in Augusta and $3000 to be split between the three new pregnancy centers in Aroostook County toward their operating costs. The remaining $5600 went to Alpha Pregnancy Resource Center in Sanford.
This project has grown impressively since its humble beginnings a few years ago. It stands as an example of how people respond positively to the Culture of Life cause when given the opportunity to express their inner kindness.
