Volunteering at Local Food Pantries
Volunteering at Local Food Pantries
Council: 2219 - WESTBROOK
Project Description:
Every Year it seems like the need for volunteers at the local food pantries increases as the economy fails to improve and more people in out communities need more help in acquiring food to fee themselves and their families. The food pantries not only depend on donations but also depend on volunteers to help stock shelves, pick up donations, and distribute food to those in need. All food pantries operate with very low budgets, which is mostly used to purchase items needed to help those in need. For this reason several of our council members volunteer their time to help in the food pantries withing their own communities ie, Westbrook,Gorham, and Windham. Even thought our council is in Westbrook we have many Brother Knights who reside in other communities therefore assist all they can withing their own communities as this is just as great. This is an ongoing need for all communities and all who get involved enjoy the feeling they get when they help others.
