Council: 13861 - SANFORD
Project Description:
The 47th annual Waban Telethon took place at the St. Ignatius Gym in Sanford Maine on Saturday, March 17th.
Each year the communities of Southern Maine come together to support Waban’s mission of providing services for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Individuals, businesses and community organizations from Sanford-Springvale and beyond pitch in to help Waban fulfill its mission. Such community organizations included the St. Thomas Knights of Columbus Councils.
Knights from the St. Thomas Council sold doughnuts, Italian sandwiches, hot dogs, pizza, coffee, soda, orange juice and water throughout the telethon. The St. Thomas Council donated the food sales proceeds in the amount of $250, along with $972 in proceeds from the previous evening’s Haddock Supper. The Springvale Council donated another $2,000. Norm Gray, the Knights of Columbus State Deputy, made an appearance at the Telethon and presented a check in the amount of $1,000, making the total Knights of Columbus donation to Waban at $4,222.
This year’s Telethon raised over $92,000 for Waban – $5,000 more that last year’s total of $87,000
