Worship and Spirituality Liturgical Ministries Retreat

08/06/2018

Council: 11376 - BRIDGTON-FRYEBURG

Project Description:

On 8/4/18 at St. Joseph Catholic Church (225 South High Street, Bridgton, ME 04009) our cluster churches gathered for a ministries retreat, the retreat was organized and presented by the Worship and Spirituality Commission.

Representatives of each Ministry described the roles and procedures of the various ministers including the Priests, Deacons, Religious, and Lay Ministers in our Cluster (Western Maine Lakes and Foothills). Ministries include Sacristan, Eucharistic, Lectors, Music, Church Environment (flowers, banners, candles, altar linens, and statues), Altar Servers and Welcoming. Our role as Ministers is to bring us all to Jesus. Our behavior as ministers should always project our Christian values whether we are in Church or in the supermarket. We are models of the Catholic faith and we are responsible for showing others how to bring us all to Christ through our behaviors.

After an opening prayer, ministry presentation, readings and reflections we broke into separate ministry groups for further discussion and met for a final group discussion, closing prayer and lunch.

The program was well received, promoted lively discussions and sharing of ideas, as well as having the opportunity to meet many other people in different ministries and churches within our Cluster.
